Steve Gorman’s substantial drumming resume includes a stint with Stereophonics as well as work with Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, Lamb of God’s Mark Morton Bo Bice and others. But he’s best known as a co-founder of the Black Crowes, with him he spent more than 20 years off and on.
Gorman, 52, has shared his memories of the famously turbulent band in last fall’s “Hard to Handle: The Life and Death of the Black Crowes — A Memoir.” The frank and revealing book has been greeted by critical and fan acclaim and has been boosted by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson’s decision to reactivate the group this year, with an all-new lineup of players.
These days Gorman is busy with his syndicated “Steve Gorman Rocks!” radio show, as well as his band Trigger Hippy, which released a new album, “Full Circle and Then Some,” during October. The Crowes, of course, continue to hover, and Gorman is happy to talk what he views as a tragically lost opportunity… – Gary Graff, The Oakland Press
